Chodewave – Appearance
Chodewave stands for its name: it’s one chode of a strain. No vulgarity here: in the world of mycology, “chode” means short and thick fruit, with chonky appearance. The “wave” part of the name refers to the added peculiarity of the look, with wavy lines and smooth curveness of the form.
- Size: varied, up to 9 inches (20cm) in height (though rarely);
- Cap: wavy and curvy, with undulatory edges, revealing gills, brown or golden in color on top;
- Stem: chonky, bulky (short and wide), with no pronounced veil (aside from discolorization), white or light grey in color;
- Gills: showing on some of the fruits, brownish in color, easy spore collection.
When you see it, you quickly understand the reasoning behind the name: it’s literally a chode, but with a wavy touch on the edges. It’s hard to misidentify Chodewave. The closest relative — Albino Chodewave— is even more wavy, but it’s plain white, with no brownish accents on the cap.
Chodewave – Origins
Chodewave is a stabilized cross of Tidal Wave and APE strains. Just in case an explanation is needed:
- A “stabilized cross” is a crossbreed that grows with consistent characteristics for more than 6-7 generations;
- Tidal Wave (aka Thaidal Wave) is a cross between Penis Anvy and B+ strains, known for its exceptional potency;
- APE (aka Albino Penis Envy) is… well, an albino version of Penis Envy strain. Its origins are unclear, but the most popular version nowadays is that it’s an isolation of the original Penis Envy. Another option is that it’s a cross between Penis Envy and PF ALbino, but nobody knows for sure. The only thing we can say with 100% confidence is that APEs are pretty potent.
As you can see from genetics of buy magic mushrooms, the last thing to expect from Chodewave is weakness. PE, APE, Tidal Wave, B+ — all these strains have a high concentration of psilocybin, psilocin, and tryptamines in total. And “like father like son” definitely applies to cross breeds of this type. The man to thank for the creation of the Chodewave is Raymond Midichee. You may know him as Uncle J. He and his wife Maya are well known in the community and run a MycoGeeky podcast now.
